I’m a human being and I was born into a family of human beings
And my ancestors were humanbeings
Red and white and metis
Then whats the problem?
According to the Merriam-Webster Online dictionary: Racism is the belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.

Did you know racism don’t exist in Canada
Did you know first nations became human beings in 1960 and allowed to vote
Did you know under 1990 Meech Lake their where only two founding peoples of this land?

On January 31 2005 a human being died on the streets of Winnipeg
It was Matthew Dumas an 18 year old North Ender
A Young Aboriginal Male murdered by the Winnipeg Police Service
I was told a screwdriver is a tool meant to build things
A 9mm pistol has no other purpose but to kill
Three police officers trained and skilled surround one young skinny “B and E” suspect
They chased him down with weapons drawn
Peppered sprayed by police suspect does not drop “weapon” after repeated orders to do so
Shot a meter away by two shots
Police Officer was Metis
Case close no racism

Witnesses saw Matthew Dumas as he covered his face from the pepper spray they shot him twice
Grand Chief Whitebird wants an independent investigation
Told media he was a victim of police humiliation
Friends told me of police brutality and humiliations
No racism

A Winnipeg Sun “ Journalist”
States Native community “whatever that means”
States Did not see that the killing of JJ Harper an aboriginal in 1988 as racially motivated
No racism

I don’t want it to be about racism
I want



In an ideal world
Race don’t exist
Only the human family
There is no police
Just smiles and peace
Good stories about families and friends
Just being human they say

But like a country song
Here in the real world
Remember when it did exist even in the great multi cultural society of Canada

Remember the roots of that nation
The denial that civilizations existed before the boats came
That there was no nations but one group called Indian
The government’s Indian Act that officially states what an Indian is that still exist today
Its cultural genocidal program “to get the Indian out of the Indian”
through residential schools, through franchisement, through Christianity and the denial of racism
The broken treaties and the Manitoba act that open the land to the settler
The redman and the halfbreed did not die in fact they kept on living and reproducing
